RIPLEY, W.Va. (WV News) — Since she opened her Studio 109 engraving business last year, Stephanie Casto has wanted to have a storefront.

That dream is now a reality.

When she first decided to take her crafting business from her home, she decided to keep it small. Her mother, Brandi Randolph, offered her space to set up her engraving machine and computer at The Agency realty company’s location.

“I was pretty content to work back there, but always knew it would be best to move to the front of the building if I wanted people to see what I can do,” Casto said. “I’ll continue to create in the back, but now I can show my work more easily.”

Working with family and supporting other local businesses are important to Casto.

“My mom helped paint, my husband Tony worked on the counter,” she said. “I used Ripley Auto Glass and Custom Detail for some of the displays and signage. We need to use local resources whenever we can.”

Casto mainly works with wood and acrylic but also does some engraving on glass.

“I can customize almost anything,” she said. “And I’m constantly learning new techniques. I love doing personalized ornaments and keychains. I can use people’s handwriting in designs. That makes it so special.”

Studio 109 will continue to expand its products with the addition of more children’s items and T-shirts. In addition, the store will feature items from other retailers.

The timing for opening her physical location is perfect, Casto said.

“This will be a great option for Christmas gifts,” she said. “For me, the best gifts have always been those that are personal, not mass produced. And that’s what Studio 109 will offer.”

Located at 332 South Church Street in Ripley, the store will be open Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For information, call 304-532-6030 or follow Studio 109 on Facebook.
